1953 Drama Production
The Duke In Darkness. Review by G. Gower in The Mayfield Magazine
The play, a serious drama, was an ambitious choice since it demanded acting of a very high standard from boys who had done little on the stage before this play. The enthusiastic reception it was given on both nights was an indication of their success and the cast and producer deserve most sincere congratulation on their efforts. Much hard work had obviously gone into the production and the result certainly justified it. The scenery, painted by the members of the Sketch Club was very effective and the costumes, hired for the first time for a school play, added greatly, as the photograph clearly shows, to the appearance of the various characters.
