1953 Kathy Cuttriss
I lived in Dawlish Drive and attended Mayfield School for Girls from 1949 to 1953. On leaving I started employment with the Plessey Company in Ilford and worked there for three years. I left at 18 to get married and had a son by the time I was 19.
My husband, Neil, had to complete his national service at the age of 21. On completion we moved to Stevenage New Town where Neil worked for English Electric, now BAe, and we obtained a house with the job. I started work when my son reached 5 years old and worked until 6 years ago. My last position was assistant secretary to the Chief Executive and Chairman at the local hospital. During the last 46 years we have moved 5, yes 5 times! and we now live in the Old Town of Stevenage. We still visit the Ilford area as my husband’s step mother lives near the Barking bus garage.

Thought you might like to see a photo of the anniversary cake made by a member of the Stevenage Ladies Choir to celebrate the choir’s 50th anniverary. I’m on the left hand end of the front row!
Not sure if you remember me, or my twin sister Pat. We left in 1960 6th form. We played netball hockey and rounders in miss Menhdams class or miss Gobby. Also you say you worked at Plessey in Ilford. My mother worked there, Ellen Sadler or known as Nell. She married Ken Sheppard, the mechanic. Also my counsin Sheila Onslow and my aunt Ethel worked there. Would be nice to contact us. We lived first in Mayfield Road then moved to Goodmayes Lane.
