1956 Patricia Pollard
I went to Mayfield School in Goodmayes Lane, which moved to Christie Gardens in 1953. I’m not too good at remembering names, but Miss Tappenden seems to ring a bell so I guess she must have been the Headmistress while I was there. I left the school in 1956 and my family and I came to Canada in 1957.
I married a Canadian and it lasted for 10 years. He was an abusive alcoholic so we parted. I met my new partner a year later and we have been together ever since. He is English and came to Canada when he was 30 years old.
I am a hairdresser and I also sell Avon Cosmetics. I live just outside Toronto in a Town called Keswick, Ontario. I have kept in contact with my girl friend that I went to school with. She still lives in England so I don’t see much of her, but we exchange Christmas cards every year with updated news. I had two other friends one was called Sylvia Lewis and the other one was Sylvia Miller.
I cannot remember you but I’m sure we were in the same class. My twin sister and I are 67 and were at Mayfield School, which we left in 1960. We played netball, hockey and rounders at school. I now live in Canada. I left good old England in 1966 and live in Barrie Ontario. Another one of our best friends at Mayfield, Margaret Arneil, lives very close by. It would be nice to hear from you if you remember us.
Patricia Hopper (nee Sadler)
Do you remember the Thompson twins, Jean and Joyce, we are now 71 years old. Has anyone heard from Francis and Patricia Ellis, or Maureen and Valerie brown or Janet Prior? It would be lovely to hear from anyone who remembers us.
Sorry, Patricia Saddler, can’t remember you but remember the teachers. It’s great to read your memories of Mayfield Secondary School for Girls. It would be lovely to hear from anyone who remembers us, Jean and Joyce the Thompson twins.
Was at Mayfield School for girls for 5 1/2 years, left in 1960. My twin sister, Sheila, and I were in the netball, rounders and hockey teams. Our friends were Pat Friers, Margaret Arneil, Anne Dore, Margaret Fitzsimon and Joan Salmon. Let us know if you remember us. Also we cannot find any pictures of our class or teams.
I don’t think its me you remember. I am now 73 and left Mayfield in 1956. Its hard trying to find classmates but fun when you do finally bump into one. Good luck in your search.
