Even the old Mayfield School buildings in Goodmayes Lane have a ‘Life after Mayfield’. Dave took the photos below, of what is now Mayespark Primary, in 2006.

The Boys School garden is now a car park

Looking at the school from what’s left of the playing field

Looking towards Goodmayes Lane where sheltered housing has been built on part of the playing field

What was the Girls School playground until they moved to Christie Gardens. There’s a new extension on the left

The corridor that housed the Headmaster’s Study and the Staff Room

The Quadrangle where the ground floor corridor, which used to be open to the elements, is now glazed

The Quadrangle, the dormer window in the roof is new

What used to be Mr. Ivey’s classroom
Hi Dave, did you live in Chadwell Heath? I lived in Somerville road opp the shops.
Hi Ian.
Yes it’s me. Your mum was best friends with my mum. They worked together at Ilford Limited. Are you thinking of attending the reunion in May?
Hi Ian, are you the ‘Ian’ I bought a tandem off of in the very early 1960’s. It was in Cannon Avenue just past your house, on the way home from school, I came off my bike and had to have 64 stitches in my face. Hope to attend the reunion in May.
Regards to all reading this message, Danny.
Hi Danny, yes it was me. I am sure it was ok when I sold it. And Dave, yes I am in Essex that weekend (on a busman’s holiday) hope to see you both there. Ian
