Arlyne Brogan (nee Meyers) (1945-2009) – Arlyne came to my class at Mayfield Girls in 1960. I remember her beautiful handwriting and excellence at Maths. We were friends straight away, along with Joy Clayton (nee Clementts), and we spent many Sunday afternoons at her house in Green Lanes with her 2 brothers and 4 sisters. My lasting memory of our schooldays is sitting in the playground at lunchtime listening to her sing the Everley Brothers hit ‘Cathy’s Clown’. We stayed friends via letter when I went to N.Z. for 4 years, and after I returned. Arlyne worked in the laboratories at Ilford Ltd, and then as a nurse for Tate and Lyle. My daughters and I often visited her and her daughter Therese and both attended my surprise 50th birthday party. Sadly Arlyne died in 2009 and is missed by friends and family.
