Chris Parkhurst, Andrew Anderson and Brian Mead enjoyed a reunion from 6pm to 11pm in a lovely pub in The Pantiles. Although there were just three of us we enjoyed a splendid social evening. Special thanks go to Brian Mead for generously springing for our fish & chips supper.
Andrew entered the teaching profession four years after leaving Mayfield and Glyn Summers wrote a testimonial for him to the teachers training college. I remarked that I had no recollection of Glyn ever using corporal punishment. Andrew said that he did slipper a boy just the once, after a long term warning. By the expression on Glyn’s face at the time, it seemed to hurt Glyn more than the recalcitrant boy.
