Mayfield Magazine 1959, Issue 21
From the Editorial by Mr. G. J. Larcombe: Mayfield Magazine has come of age! This is the twenty first issue – a fine record. We are pleased to acknowledge receipt of magazines from Loxford Secondary Boys School, SS. Peter and Paul School and Billericay Secondary School, whose headmaster, Mr. Goldwyn, was at one time on the staff of Mayfield School.
From the Headmaster’s Review by C. F. W. Hicks: In my view the most notable feature of the school, is the number of boys who each year ask to continue for the full five-year course. The number is now approaching the hundred mark and will probably exceed this figure for the first time next September.
Finally I leave this thought with all boys in the school – ‘It is no disgrace to have failed; it is only a disgrace to have ceased trying’.
