This is a photo of an evening outing I arranged in 1955 to a studio of ITV, which had not long been in existence. We witnessed a try-on by the Company to bypass a government requirement which laid down that advertisements were not to be broadcast live but must be recorded and approved by a government department. We watched a rehearsal of a model with glorious hair who was recommending some hair treatment, then to our astonishment it was broadcast live. They were hauled before a court the next day. On our way home the model sat opposite us on the train. The girl in the photo is my daughter then aged fourteen.
